Just to be clear, personal branding is also known as your own reputation. Everyone exists as a brand. It’s certainly not confined to the rich and famous. Think of personal branding in reference to the way people perceive you.
Are you an innovator?
Are you authentic and trustworthy?
What is their perception of you?
If you are a little on edge about your own brand, here are some tips for you to build your own strong personal brand.
Find your niche.
The rule of thumb has always been: Choose something that you are passionate about.
Although you don’t have to necessarily.
Think about it….do you want to do this for the rest of your life?
You don’t have to answer that right away.
But let’s be real for a moment….
You can’t build a business solely from interest, what’s profitable, and then sell it when you get to a point where you feel like moving on.
But in any case, you want to think about building a foundation. You can always change things down the road. You might want to do a number of things, but find your “sweet spot”, make sure it will make you money, and start building from there.
After you’ve done that, you can go on to discover your own personal brand. My company offers a 4-week Branding Boot Camp that helps you progress with your brand message, style, and outreach.
After you’ve chosen a niche, you need to know where you stand from the thoughts, words, and reactions of other people.
You have to figure out what you want your image to be like?
If you are in the industry of wedding planning, you could make your goal to be trustworthy, reliable, and affordable. These are things you have absolute control over.
Once the word gets out about you, it can cause your brand to be notable. In other words, people will start flocking to you over your competitors.
Be sure to set some goals for how you want to be perceived and develop a plan to make it a reality.
Think in terms of investment.
If you’re just starting out, you may not be established yet or have much of a name.
However, if you consistently try to fulfill and exceed the goals you set, you will come out on top with your personal branding.
Every new project that you take on will have a higher perceived value because your personal brand will persist.
You can raise your prices, create a multitude of options for your prospects, and you’ll be in-demand in the marketplace.
Word of mouth is supreme, but that alone is not enough. You have to market yourself to capacity. It could be business cards (physical or digital), blogs, high volume websites, video marketing, social networks such as LinkedIn, Instagram and Facebook.
And the best part of all, these are all free, so there’s nothing holding you back.
Keep being a student.
Your niche, whatever it may be, is an ever changing market.
With that being said, you’ve got to keep on learning and updating your knowledge to stay on your A game. By doing this you will continuously make your brand stronger and more concrete.
