How often do we let worry consume us? How do we know what the first step is to learn how to stop worrying and start living? Sometimes it just gets to the point where it’s too hard to shake off. Usually when I’m feeling this type of way, I’ll turn to my Bible and meditate on what it says. Having the reassurance that God has my back has always been able to uplift my spirits and get me to the place I need to be.
It seems like it’s just so easy for our confidence to shift from day to day. While it seems like nothing is going on in my business, everything is going on in the lives of others. And I’m speaking of entrepreneurs and business owners.
I’ve been in online business for quite sometime now, and it still seems to be hard to get to the breakthrough. It still seems impossible to get to where I know I should be in my business. So in the times of my struggles and lack of understanding, I turn to God to see what He has to say about it.
So on my quest to learn how to stop worrying, I happen to turn to the book of Psalm, chapter 73 and I immediately identified with what was being said. I won’t pour out all of the chapter, but I will share a few verses that really stood out to me.
Verse 7: These fat cats have everything their hearts could ever wish for!
And truthfully, it surely seems that way. I’m in and out of social media sites often throughout the day and I can’t help but see how far people are getting and the blessings that are pouring down on them. And even though I’m happy for them, it kind of makes me feel left out when nothing exciting is going on for me.
Verse 12: Look at these arrogant people-enjoying a life of ease while their riches multiply.
Verse 13: Was it for nothing that I kept my heart pure and kept myself from doing wrong?
Verse 14: All I get is trouble all day long; every morning brings me pain.
Here’s the lesson: When you see people being blessed, celebrate with them and don’t hate on them. If you’re doing right on the straight and narrow path, then continue to do so. Don’t ever think it’s going in vain that your heart is pure. And don’t just have a pure heart to get something from God. Have one because it’s genuine and your love for God can’t make it any other way.
This is a lesson that took me years and years to learn. But the more I started to look at my issues in a spiritual light, the more I began to see the light.
Verse 22: I was so foolish and ignorant- I must have seemed like a senseless animal to you.
Verse 23: Yet I still belong to you; you are holding my right hand.
Verse 24: You will keep on guiding me with your counsel, leading me to a glorious destiny.
These verses spoke to me and TOLD me how to stop worrying. It doesn’t do me any good and it actually insults God because it shows that I don’t fully trust Him. I don’t ever want that to be the case. So I decided to take back my courage and grow my faith.
The importance in all of this is to know where to go and what to do when you feel like you’re just not getting anywhere. It’s even more important to know that you don’t have to keep up with everyone else. What’s for you is FOR you and what’s for them is FOR them. What matters most is knowing that you have God on your side and He is leading you to greatness. Have patience, that is all.
